Recent data from Lands of America shows $426 million in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Beehive State. This represents a combined 114,399 acres of land for sale in the state. The most expensive land listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $39 million, though the median price for land, ranches and rural property in Utah came in at $515,119. The average price of land, ranches and rural property in Utah was $1 million. There was 1,060 acres of sold land in Utah recorded in March 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from the previous period. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $1.4 million. Over a thousand fishable lakes and countless rivers and streams await anglers casting for trophy trout, pike, bass and more in Utah. The Ogden, Weber and Provo rivers thread through the canyons of the Wasatch Front and while Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and Green River offers some of the Mountain West's best fly-fishing. In terms of size, Utah is the country's 13th-largest state, covering an area of 84,904 square miles (54 million acres). In its entirety, 82,170 square miles (97 percent) covers land area, while the remaining 2,727 square miles is covered by water. Over half the land in Utah is public land such as state parks, forestland or state and other federally protected land. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Utah. The financial publication Kiplinger has ranked the state among the ten best states for retirees based on factors including property and income taxes, health care and cost of living. Of Utah's 29 counties, Iron County had the most land and rural real estate for sale.
